Charla Dedmon has dedicated 57 years of service to the students of Oklahoma. After teaching one year at Woodward in 1970, she spent 10 years with Lawton Public Schools and has served Walters Public Schools for the past 46 years.
Year after year, her choir program has earned outstanding honors and awards. Mrs. Dedmon devotes countless hours after school and on weekends helping her students practice and achieve excellence in their performances.
In addition to her work in the classroom, Mrs. Dedmon generously volunteers her time and talents as Director of the Miss Walters Pageant and helps in organizing the community’s annual Thanksgiving and Christmas programs.
Mrs. Dedmon will be recognized at the Oklahoma State Department of Education’s Teacher of the Year Banquet in June in honor of her extraordinary dedication and lifelong commitment to education, her students and community.
