micas garden

“Mica’s Garden” has received final enhancements in anticipation of a beautiful, flourishing garden this spring. This garden serves as a memorial to Mica Smith’s dedication to our students and the district during her nearly 15 years at WPS, and is located in the elementary courtyard.

Last spring, plans began to take shape, and preparations started with dirt work and the placement of large rocks donated by Cotton County District 1. Walters FFA constructed the steel bench, while Mumford Precast sponsored the concrete foundation. All WES classes, along with Mica’s family, contributed to the creation of the stepping stones. Additionally, Pete and Denise Tulloh donated and planted the irises and daffodils, and also installed the soaker hoses and edging purchased by Cotton County 4H. Today, the fourth-grade students successfully completed the spreading of mulch.

We are anxious to see the flowers in bloom this spring in Mica's Garden - a garden that will forever celebrate her life and a daily reminder of her spirit.
